About Baku

AND AFTER GOLF? EXPLORE THE CITY’S ANCIENT ARTS AND BRILLIANT ARCHITECTURE…

Nestled in the Caucasus between Europe and Asia, the capital of Azerbaijan, Baku shimmers fashionably on the Absheron Peninsula. With a backdrop of the Greater Caucasus and fringed by the Caspian Sea, the city’s 12th-century UNESCO-listed Old City carries stories of camels, carpets and the Great Silk Road. Ancient heritage is offset by fashion powerhouse stores and skyscrapers like the iconic Flame Towers, which provide a new uber luxe lifestyle generated by petroleum reserves below.

There is an abundance of restaurants of all cuisines from Japanese to Lebanese, Italian to Mexican, not forgetting delicious national foods like qutab (thin stuffed pancakes) shekerbura (sweet nutty pastries) and juicy kebab with pomegranate.

Baku enjoys a long golf season from early March until the end of December, with especially warm and light evenings in July and August when daytime temperatures reach around 35°C – refreshingly cool compared to its neighbours in the Gulf. While January and February are noticeably colder, windier months, it’s a chance to test your skills against the elements for the most dedicated golfers.
