Supported by the Azerbaijan Tourism Board in association with the International Association of Golf Tour Operators (IAGTO) seventeen of the industry’s leading Tour Operators visited Azerbaijan to discover the opportunities for growing Golf Tourism. The four day program included city tours and hotel stays at the Quba Palace Hotel and the newly opened Dreamland Golf Hotel in Baku whilst players competed in the Azerbaijan Golf Cup. With Day One played at The National Golf Club of Azerbaijan Quba, players made the most of conditions with 44pts taking an early lead. As the group travelled back to Dreamland Golf Club Baku, the stage was set for a competitive final round in somewhat breezy conditions. Congratulations to 2019 Winner Quoc Anh Nguyen (Vietnam) with 74 pts (44 rnd1 30 rnd2). Runner up was Anett Tanger (Germany) with 72 pts (42 rnd1 30 rnd2) followed by Charlie Kim (South Korea) with 68pts (26 rnd1 42 rnd2). The side contests winners for the event were Day 1 Nearest the Pin Hole #4 – Johan Kullenberg (Sweden) Longest Drive Hole #12 John Macdougall (Scotland). Day 2 Nearest the Pin Hole #10 Johan Kullenberg (Sweden) and the Longest Drive Hole #4 Jessie Yang (China). IAGTO’s Callum Endicott summed up the event: “An impeccable week here in Azerbaijan has truly showcased what the country can offer to Golf Tourists. I can say with confidence that the Tourism Board & teams at both Golf Courses have delivered an exceptional experience to all Tour Operators in attendance.
