Magnificent at The Marriott!
Azerbaijani golfers dominated the leader board for last weekend’s JW Marriott Absheron Scramble. Traditionally a busy event on the calendar, 2019 was no exception with a full field of players on course and even teams waitlisted that we sadly couldn’t accomodate. Side contests for the day were awarded to Ilgar Ahmadov for his Nearest the Pin on Hole 5, Martin Kleinmann with Nearest the Pin Hole 17, Susan Drummond won the Ladies Longest Drive on Hole 4 whilst Nabi Efendi claimed the Gents Longest Drive Hole 12. Well done to our 2019 champions – the all Azerbaijani team of Khalil Huseynov, Ilgar Ahmadov, Elman Rzayev, Huseyn Babazade with a Gross 7 under par – Net 58.2. Runners up were David Lawson, Gavin MacKenzie, John Quinn, Billy Quinn with a Gross 70 Net 61.4 – we hope that their “form” continues into this week for the B.O.B trip to Turkey! Third place was Andrew Hulston, Wade Droney, Sean Harrison and Nick McDonald with a Gross 67 Net – 61.5.
Players also had the opportunity to win extra prizes with the chipping competition from the garden to the 18th green. In the first round Nick Hore won a bottle of Prosecco with his nearest to the pin shot. Players then battled it out for an overnight stay in an executive suite in the final game – well done to Ian Grant who beat the field with his silky short game!
